The year is 1915, and the Ottoman Empire has been at war for three brutal, bloody years. You are Yousuf Oziri, a Mulazim in the Ottoman Army, tasked with the command of a platoon of infantrymen. You have survived monsters and men and the horrors of war, have seen the army lessened and changed and improved. Seen Djinn and non-Turks finally allowed into the Empire's most prestigious units, and heard of social change at home from your family. More importantly, you are Yousuf Oziri, and one of your best friends has just died.
It is only the start of your troubles.
You can read Incident Eliph at Kianid on the sufficient velocity webforums.
Incident Eliph is an alternate history fantasy/horror piece. It's set in the Ottoman Empire, in an alternate history where the arrival of Djinn set history down a different course. Where the Ottoman Empire recovered from its decline rather earlier than expected, and the island of Kianida never sank into the Black Sea.
As interactive fiction, the readerbase collectively makes decisions for the main character, generally provided at the bottom of each post. While currently I'm only collecting votes on Sufficient Velocity, if there's significant interest I might see if opening voting up here and on other sites is viable.
Fair warning, Incident Eliph dives heavily into body horror, gore, racism, and the horrors of war. It isn't for everyone, and I feel it's only fair to warn you about that up front.
I'm hoping to make a career out of writing, so while Incident Eliph is free if you like my work and want to see more I encourage you to support me on Ko-Fi
